What's Changed ❓

  • RPM Scaling on the '36-2 with Cam' pattern has been fixed
  • Fix for the 2 cylinder compression wave being incorrect (Was showing as 4 cylinder)
  • Multiple GUI fixes
  • Prevent possibility of multiple RPM requests being made simultaneously. This could cause the RPM read frequency to halve after a few hours operation

What's Changed

  • Add compression wave options for different angles and dynamic amplitude
  • Add 36-2 with 1 cam by @ggurov in #75
  • Fix a bug where the wheel pattern would not save correctly
  • Fix an issue where there was the incorrect number of compression waves if a 720 degree wheel was selected.
  • Perform a check on connection to make sure the firmware version matches the GUI

After many years of being only for developers, Ardu-Stim is finally getting a v1.0.0 release! 🎉
It's hard to know where to begin in describing this release as there has been a HUGE number of changes made since the Alpha was released a few years ago.

The firmware for the board itself has matured and been cleaned up significantly. It's now in a very good position for new features to be added and there has been a large amount of resources freed up for Nano boards. Useful features such as varying speed on the ranged RPM sweep and low RPM compression waves demonstrate the flexibility of the system now.

The GUI, whilst far from perfect still, is now reasonably tidy on Windows, Mac and linux. The firmware upload has now been fixed on all platforms also, making it easier to get up and running.

Major Features 🏎️

  • 3 RPM Modes:
    • Potentiometer
    • Fixed RPM
    • Ranged sweep (With variable range and speed)
  • Compression 'waves' at low RPM
  • Built-in uploading of firmware to board

Bug Fixes 🐞

Too many to mention!

  • Multiple fixes for Windows
  • Fixes that could cause lockup on blank arduino
  • Background improvements to memory and config layout

V1.0.0 Beta 1 Pre-release
Pre-release

Too many changes to list since the last Alpha version. IN short though:

  • Many new wheel patterns added
  • Uploading of firmware should now work for Arduino Nano boards (Maybe Uno?)
  • Sweep function now works
  • UI correctly displays the config that is saved on the board
  • Support for 2 cam signals rather than 1 (3 total signals generated)
  • MANY bugs fixed
  • Most libraries updated

This is a beta release to allow people to test this ahead of an upcoming release. There will be at least 1 more beta prior to a final release.

Alpha 2 test release

30 Aug 11:57
Compare
Choose a tag to compare
  • Add ability to burn firmware through UI, no need to compile this (Arduino nano 328 only)
  • Add saving of settings on the arduino so that they persist between restarts
  • Add scope style view in addition to wheel view
  • Multiple bug fixes and small improvements

Instructions

You MUST install the new firmware that comes along with this release. It will not work if your Arduino has an earlier firmware on it. If you are using an Arduino Uno or Nano, simply start the application, select the correct port and press the button to upload the firmware. After that press Connect.

You will only have to do the firmware upload once for this version.
