Had a situation where I needed to control where the tipsy element was prepended to. I believe this does the trick nicely.

Example

$('.tipsy-me').tipsy({delayIn: 200,
    delayOut: 100,
    offset: 3,
    gravity: 'e',
    parent: '.tipsy-container'
});
