+City of London Police, Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) deals with copyright infringement in hard goods and online infringement. We enforce UK laws in relation to infringement of brand owners/ copyright holder and their representatives. We deal with complaints from brands/ movies/ music/ gaming and software industries.

+PIPCU have received a complaint from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) in regard to a Github subdomain proxybay.github.io, which is facilitating access to torrent sites that allow access to copyright infringing content. This site is in breach of UK law, namely Copyright, Design & Patents Act 1988, Offences under the Fraud Act 2006 and Conspiracy to Defraud.

+We request that you review your processes to see if you provide a service for the identified domain(s)/ subdomain. If so, we would ask you to review the terms and conditions on the basis of which that service is provided and withdraw or suspend the service if you are satisfied that the terms and conditions have been breached.

+Suspension of the domain(s) is intended to prevent further crime. Where possible we request that domain suspension(s) are made within 48 hours of receipt of this Alert.

+PIPCU have reviewed the evidence of infringement provided by BPI independently and agree the subdomain is breaching UK laws.
