Kristopher Rasek edited this page Sep 2, 2024 · 6 revisions

When setting the quality of a data point, the following options currently exist:

  • Audited
  • Reported
  • Estimated
  • Incomplete
  • No Data Found

Furthermore, a data point may be left blank alltogether. The meaning of the different quality buckets is summarized in the table below:

Quality Bucket Meaning
Audited Data point was found in the supporting document which was reviewed by an auditor
Reported Data point was found in the supporting document
Incomplete Data point was found but relevant parts are missing
Estimated Data point was not found but estimated by the uploader
No Data Found Data point was searched for but not found
Data Point is null Data point was not searched for or is not relevant

To make the meaning of the different quality buckets clearer, the following table contains example datapoins and further details.

Quality Bucket Dataset Example Datapoint Comment
Audited adidas AG Total Amount The value can be found in the provided Annual Report. The consolidated Financial statements have been audited by KPMG, the report is included in the Annual Report.
Reported COMCAST CORPORATION Carbon Reduction Initiative The company itself reports the existence of the initiative, but the report was not audited
Incomplete (i) CONTINENTAL RESOURCES, INC.
(ii) CARNIVAL CORPORATION.
(i) Carbon Reduction Initiative
(ii) Supplier Code Of Conduct
For policies:
(i) When the topic of a policy is mentioned, but no specific policy is mentioned or provided, we consider this as Incomplete with no value (neither yes nor no) This is also reflected in the comment.
(ii) When a policy is mentioned, but the text of the policy itself is currently not available (on Dataland), this is considered as Data Quality Incomplete with value 'yes'.
For "collective" datapoints (e.g. EU Taxonomy activities):
(iii) some values are provided, others are not.
Estimated KfW Non-Renewable Energy Consumption Other When a value is not explicitly stated but can be derived from provided information (e.g., non-renewable energy consumption = total energy consumption * [1 - renewable energy consumption percentage], currency or unit conversions, etc.).
In the example, no energy source is provided for District heating, so it is a reasonable assumption that it is non-renewable.
No Data Found CARNIVAL CORPORATION. Human Rights Legal Proceedings Finding the data was attempted but not successful.
