How to add a search button to the reference field

Edit_Publicació_test___My_Backdrop_Site_-_Vivaldi

  1. To add the search button in a references field you need to add it in the field's settings:

Animal___My_Backdrop_Site_-_Vivaldi

  1. Then, you need to create a view with a references dialog search display:

  1. Ad at least one title field WITH the "link to the original piece of content" OR, if you don't want the link, the NID field (even if it is hidden from the view). Without it, you will get an error when clicking on the search link:

  1. Look for the References dialog block in the view:

test__Content____My_Backdrop_Site_-_Vivaldi

It reads "broken field" because you have to attach this references dialog search display view to the reference field you want this button added to. In this example is the "animal" field in the "post" node type:

test__Content____My_Backdrop_Site_-_Vivaldi

  1. Save the view AND clear cache, otherwise you will not see the search button:

Fullscreen_17_10_24__13_01

  1. After that, you will have the search button in your field.
