To install the Minecraft: Steam Deck Edition, we will need a specific launcher (not mandatory but highly recommended!).

๐Ÿ’Ž Install Prism Launcher

Prism Launcher is an open-source 3rd-party Minecraft launcher including a lot of features like the possibility to have multiple instances or to manage mods easily for example.

First, we'll need to get on the Desktop Mode to install everything. When in ๐ŸŽฎ Gaming Mode (the default mode, with Steam in Big Picture), hold down the power button, then select the ๐Ÿ”„ "Switch to Desktop" option.

Look for the ๐Ÿ‘œ "Discover" app, which is the Linux App Store. Once the app is open, press the search bar and press the Steam and X button to bring up the virtual keyboard. Type Prism Launcher, it should be the only result available. Now select the "Install" button.

Wait for the app to install.

Once it's done, start the Prism Launcher. Select the language you prefer (English is still recommended, whatever your main language is). When you're asked how much RAM you want to allocate, set the maximum RAM to 6144 MB, which is equivalent to 6 GB. You won't be needing as much to play Minecraft: Steam Deck Edition but it will be helpful if you wish to play huge modpacks later (we're thinking two steps ahead here!).

Now, you might not want to ๐Ÿ”„ switch to Desktop Mode every time you want to play the modpack. So right-click the icon and select Add to Steam. Check if it worked. If it didn't, ๐Ÿ”„ switch back to the Desktop Mode, open Steam and Add a non-Steam game, select Prism Launcher.

Congratulations, Prism Launcher is now installed and launchable through the Steam Deck as intended! ๐Ÿฅณ

๐Ÿ“Ÿ Install Minecraft: Steam Deck Edition

Now that the Prism Launcher is installed, you need to create an instance. An instance is a Minecraft install and each one contains its own mods, saves and resourcepacks. You can freely do whatever you want without impacting the other instances.

Click on Add an instance in the upper-left corner of the launcher. On the left, you'll see a Modrinth button, click it. In Search and filter, type "steam deck" thanks to a keyboard (to bring the virtual keyboard, press Steam and the X buttons). Select Minecraft: Steam Deck Edition then choose the version you want in the lower-right corner (Always choose the latest version for the Minecraft version you want for the best experience).

Wait a minute or two, the modpack is now installed! If you wish to go further, like adding the modpack to Steam, please follow the Post-install section.
