Azure Storage Account gives null values #1086

When getting metrics from an Azure storage account I get null values most of the time

[07:15:00 INF] Found value 100 for metric azure_storage_account_availability with aggregation interval 01:00:00
[07:15:00 INF] Found value null for metric azure_storage_files_capacity with aggregation interval 01:00:00
[07:15:01 INF] Found value null for metric azure_storage_files_capacity with aggregation interval 01:00:00

Pure random it starts given metrics and after a while it get back to null values.

Is there an explanation/solution for this behavior or does it have something to do with Azure itself?

I was using release 1.6.1. Just started testing with latest release. For now it looks OK. I'll keep testing for some time te see if it stays that way.

I still have a issue with the message queue where it states the Queue doesn't exist

Metrics Explorer shows nothing wrong:

Futhermore I have an issue with getting data from a Message Queue. It states the Queue doesn't exist, but it is actualy there.

Some questions:

It looks like azure_storage_files_capacity is not in your declaration, was it renamed?
Which metrics are you plotting in that chart, can you include those as well please?
Interesting, is the storage account for your queue also in resourcegroupName resource group?

The azure_storage_files_capacity is in the actual declaration, but it is not mentioned above, because I didn't think it was necessary. (sorry for that)

The plotted metrics are Used capacity (average)

The queue is in the same storageAccount (and so in the same resourcegroupName)

I'll look at this today but saw somebody else yesterday with same issue regardless of Promitor where no metrics were showing up. However, you should not see null but the default metric.

I tried to reproduce it but seems like I cannot. Maybe a stupid question but did you create the SAS token on the queue or can you elaborate on that please?

I think I copied in the wrong token or made a typo in it. I got it working now and I can see metrics.

So it looks like the API sometimes returns a null, when there is no info, which we report based on the metricUnavailableValue.

The issue here is why does it return null which I'm digging in now.

The null might be a bug where it's using a time series which has not ended yet

Is it a bug from Azure or within Promitor?!

I've found the root cause and will fix it today or tomorrow. Promitor is not fully handing the data series as it should where it sometimes returns a new (empty) time period.
