Describe the solution you'd like:
Kustomize released v5.0.0 in February - CAPRKE2 should bump the Kustomize version to keep up. Release notes are here.

We need to take care of deprecations: The following have been deprecated:

  • vars -> replacements
  • bases -> resources
  • patchesStrategicMerge -> patches
  • patchesJson6902 -> patches
  • /area dependency

Why do you want this feature:
To be able to use the latest version of kustomize and align with upstream (CAPI >=v1.8.0)

Anything else you would like to add:
[Miscellaneous information that will assist in solving the issue.]
