The GUI "hangs", i.e. is not responding, if I try a manual location update (upper right side of GUI). After a while, my Andoid complains "OwnTracks isn't responding". If I "Close App", it restarts and looks ok, until the next attempt.

Ok, usually, I'm not updating the location manually, but after issues with 2.5.0 (location update stopped after a day, and yes, I enabled permanent location permission), I'm not sure if I can trust the app now.
Was more happy with 2.4, I found an apk for 2.4.10, installs and works fine, but Google Play has updated it...

  • App build number: Version 2.5.3 (420503003) - OSS
  • Android version: 10
  • Device: Doogee S88plus
  • Installation source: tried Google Play, and F-Droid, same issue

I'd appreciate if you could provide a 2.4.x apk, which is not connected to Google Play, so I can keep it.

All the previous apk versions are on GitHub releases.

Thanks. Found them. No idea why I did not see them in the first place. Sorry. I installed owntracks-release-oss-v2.4.12.oldkey.apk, and I'm pretty confident that this will help.
Now Google Play wants to update it, but it cannot ;-) That's fine for me ;-)
F-Droid also wants to update, but it has a "ignore all updates" setting, also fine for me.
So I'm happy, however, the issue with 2.5.3 is not resolved. Maybe it's only my issue (Android 10 + my cheap Doogee)...

Will definitely try and reproduce. We shouldn't be hanging the UI thread ever.

This may already be fixed. There was a regression linked to the sending of Status messages where the status message gets generated on the main UI thread. Pressing the manual update button will generate a status and location message, and that status message generation could (sometimes) be slow.

Be interesting to see if it still does the same thing on 2.5.4.
