Splitting this off from Dominik Czarnota's extensive feedback in #330.

The -Wdangling-gsland -Wreturn-stack-address diagnostics are the result Herb Sutter's -Wlifetime diagnostics experiments and are currently enabled by default in Clang/LLVM
