I currently have an open issue with Digital Services. Our stories that get pushed to NPR One are showing up in station connect, but never appear in the app. They have acknowledged the issue and are working on it. However the say it will be quite a while. This doesn't seem to be an issue for people using Core Publisher, which I assume is using the same API. I have a couple of questions:

  1. Do you know of anyone else with this problem?
  2. Can you point me to the documentation for ingest into the API? I've been looking with no success.

Hi, I know this is an older issue and you have probably gotten this working by now, but I recently ran into a similar problem working on a site that has a requirement to push to NPR One and thought I'd document this here in case others come across this issue in searching for a solution as well.

You not only need permission for your API key to push stories on behalf of an organization, but also a specific permission to push content to NPR One... Which you'll have to go to NPR Digital Services for.

UPDATE
There's also a hidden requirement for NPR One:
Your mp3 needs to be encoded with "HE-ACC/.MP4" or it won't get ingested into the NPR One app, though it will still be streamable from NPR.

Further confusing the issue is that http://digitalservices.npr.org/post/how-transcode-he-aacmp4 lists this encoding as "preferred, but optional", but for NPR One, it is actually a hard requirement. sigh

Hi, I no longer work for NPR, but @christophersmith262 is right (at least according to what I know/remember from last fall). To push, you need to be whitelisted by NPR. Try DS -- or emailing (I think) [email protected]. Also, fyi, the whitelist is by IP -- so if your hosting vendor does not have you at a static IP, that could spell problems.
