Microsoft PowerToys version

0.82.0

Installation method

Microsoft Store

Running as admin

Yes

Area(s) with issue?

Awake, PowerToys Run

Steps to reproduce

Awake

  • Windows release every month Cumulative & Security Update after update I had to restart the system after restart in task bar the awake symbol disappear it will not show in tray icon list even Awake option is enabled by default

  • If I restart the system, awake symbol be there in tray icon list but after Windows Update Restart only it disappears

image

  • if I want back that symbol again in tray icon list, I have to do disable Awake option manually and enable it again means it will come back again

image

  • So, every time after update restarted the system, I had to do the second point mentioned above manually

PowerToys Run

  • Alt+Space Bar it will open windows search I can search files and do lot other options available in PowerToys Run some time it is lagging and stuck response time after keyboard event occurred is very lagging, I can't press any character inside that dialog box it will take so much time to response maybe I don't know is there any memory leakage or optimization is not good enough sometime I had to end the PowerToys Run from Task Manager manually and restart the option again

  • I suspect it consume sometime memory usage high or disk utilization gets into 100% also possible deadlock in application kindly fix that problem as soon possible it is very important feature like available in Mac OS

✔️ Expected Behavior

Awake

  • After windows update restart the system Awake symbol needs to be present in tray icon list in task bar it should be automatically loaded

PowerToys Run

  • It should be responsive to input provided in dialog box and smooth experience without any lagging in application

❌ Actual Behavior

Awake

  • Windows release every month Cumulative & Security patch after updated restart the system in task bar the awake symbol disappear it will not show in tray icon list even Awake option is enabled by default I had to do manually disable and enable awake option then only it be back again in tray icon list

PowerToys Run

  • Sometimes it is lagging and unresponsive to input command and stuck in screen itself I had to do forcefully end the application from Task Manager and restart it again

Other Software

No response

@HarryLesnar24 when the scenario you are describing happens, can you please:

  1. Verify that PowerToys.Awake.exe runs in Task Manager? I do wonder if the process is there but the icon is not displayed.
  2. Run powercfg /requests in an elevated command prompt to make sure that you check whether Awake has a hold on current power mode requests.

Thanks @HarryLesnar24 - the powercfg /requests needs to be executed when PowerToys Awake is running to see if it successfully sets up the power requirements. Without it you will get the empty output in your screenshot. I've had a few Windows updates come and go with Awake running OK, so it's a no-repro for me for the time being, but please let us know if the issue persists once you check after the next update.

Hi @dend,

  • I have defaultly selected Off in Settings you can find in below image when it is in Off mode I will not get any output related to Awake using powercfg /requests I shared output previous conversation what I got from CMD

image

  • if I change it to option Keep awake indefinitely means I got output related to Awake power plan using the powercfg/requests you can see it in below image

image

image

  • if I'm want to change any settings kindly recommend me what need to do I can follow it else if there is no need to change any configuration in my system then I will update the status once windows update rollout on next month I will share the details whether the problem be there or resolved after update.
