"WP Content Protection" blocks right-click even with extension enabled #6

On WordPress sites "protected" by the extension "WP Content Protection Pro", without this extension enabled right-clicks are silently ignored, but with the extension enabled a right-click just triggers messages in the middle of the page like "ALERT: This link is protected" or "ALERT: Right click on empty spaces is disabled." The standard pop-up menu I expected does not appear.

In a support thread complaining that Chrome extensions bypass the free version of the WP plugin easily, the extension vendor linked to a test site.

(While I'm somewhat sympathetic to the plugin's nominal aims, interfering with the ability to open links in new tabs is egregious.)
