Keycard interact with Leger Nano S?

How does the keycard interact with Leger Nano S?
Please explain.

This is a Keycard implementation for the Ledger (i.e; an applet which can be loaded on the Ledger)

As far as I know, in Ledger nano s, I can only install an official app list, I do not understand how the keycard will be installed in Ledger?
Like any application?
