In a demonstration by @yuvipanda today for the NASA VEDA community, I learned that nbgitpuller links can be configured to put content in specific paths (like under ~/Desktop when used with Linux desktop applications). The nbgitpuller link generator should be updated to include setting targetPath for this to work
Alternative options
Who would use this feature?
The ability to generate nbgitpuller links that launch Linux desktop applications hosted on JupyterHub in the cloud has many potential uses. Trainers who want to show a trainee how to use a Linux app could use nbgitpuller--->LinuxApp-with-content in much the same way that instructors use nbgitpuller-->JupyterLab-with-content to help students learn data science.
The nb prefix in the name nbgitpuller belies the massive flexibility in the web plumbing developed for JupyterHub! The plumbing does so much more than launch Jupyter notebooks.
(Optional): Suggest a solution
Extend the CRUD in the link generator to match the features available in nbgitpuller.
