How best to handle having multiple editors on one page

I've got a custom component that includes a configuration page that uses multiple editors (6 to be precise), and I've noticed that this causes substantial lag when loading the page, and even occasionally causes the browser to freeze. I'm sure I'm going about this the wrong way, so I don't want to submit an issue over this, but at the same time I'm unsure of how I should be handling this.

Any suggestions or ideas of things I can try to alleviate the lag?

Which editors are you using? Are these core (tinyMCE, Codemirroe, None) or external?

Typically I use TinyMCE as I know how to work with the content of that one well enough to display what I need.

Although, occasionally I have nested tabs with their own editors depending on the context.
