For certain, J! 4 update packages are larger than J! 3.x update packages; compare J! 4.0.3 update ZIP 23.36M with J! 3.10.2 update ZIP 11.83M. In my webcraft I choose upload_max_filesize = 128M and post_max_size = 256M (which is probably overkill but it's kept me out of strife when it comes to updating from one version of J! to another).

I've been looking at various tips that people have suggested in order to help them ensure they can reliably update their websites.
The first place to start, obviously, is with the Technical Requirements advice. There is also some extra information at https://docs.joomla.org/J4.x:Optional_Technical_Requirements. Very happy with that, thank you.
However, one page has me a little puzzled: https://docs.joomla.org/J4.x:Installing_Joomla. This page talks about
When you look around the internet—searching for tips that commentators will suggest—you will often see references to the JDOCS concerning these two PHP settings. (I'm not criticising those [somewhat dated] articles that people will find. I mention a couple of examples here to illustrate the point: https://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?t=980489#p3606512, https://www.joomlabeginner.com/blog/tutorials/233-things-you-should-do-during-updating-joomla, https://yootheme.com/support/yootheme-pro/joomla/installation-issues.) I don't think many of us would use values for upload_max_filesize or post_max_size as small as 30M but, with J! 4 update packages now approaching 24M and showing signs that they will probably grow larger, I wonder whether we need to offer better advice to website managers?

I would like to know what other people think should be recommended on the https://docs.joomla.org/J4.x:Installing_Joomla page. Thanks.
