instead of rendering the emoji in the output, instead it shows either incorrect alternate language characters or square blocks.

expectation is that it show emoji

If I remember the IRC discussion of 2016.12.21 correctly the proposed course of action is to change the font to one with emoji support, with the stumbling block being the availability of such a font, vis-a-vis the font license.

I proposed a solution where the producing script could consume a font name as a configuration variable so that we could Produce Works with it without having to expose the font itself.

That seems sane? I need an adult lawyer.
