  • To increase volume up, one to be able to do that with:

    • Ctrl+=
(so one doesn't have to hit Shift too so that this becomes Ctrl++)
    • Ctrl+KP_Add
(so one can utilize this key on a numpad)
  • To decrease volume down, one to be able to do that with:

    • Ctrl+KP_Subtract
(so one can utilize this key on a numpad)

Please also take into consideration that, hitting Ctrl-Shift (for being able to send Ctrl++) could be a locale switching key combination.
