Window close button is not extending to the edge of the screen when maximized

If the tab bar is on title bar, and WinMerge window is maximized, I am unable to press the 'X' close button by clicking near the edge or at the corner of the screen. The mouse cursor also changes to "resize window horizontally" there. The red highlight on the close button also disappears when I hover over near the edge of the screen, and clicking there does nothing.

As a workaround, I had to uncheck View -> Tab Bar -> On Title bar.
