Anyone want to take a look at #940 or #939?

These files are failing the linter, and I can't figure out why....
In one case, it's markdown lint giving an error I don't think it should be giving from the Ref_BestPractices.md
In the other case, in a nasty snarl of #ifdefs astyle is losing track of the fact that I turned indent checking off, and complaining about indentation.

We gotta get these things passing or get the linters to ignore whatever imagined problem they think is there. :-/
