Second monitor display issues on Surface Pro 8

Using any version after kernel 6.6 (commit 41e6854 (I have tested the exact same config with different nixos-hardware commits specified)), I have several issues with sway ranging from being unable to configure my second monitor to use >30hz, scaling not working, and in some occasions no output at all. I saw similar weirdness in hyperland and believe it is caused by some changes made to the i915 driver.
