There are other high profile MG titles that have been released that are not in our current showcase.

We should add some of the following:

  • Axiom Verge 2
  • Unrailed!
  • Salt and Sacrifice (maybe need to check)
  • CARRION
  • Kynseed
  • ???

What we've done in the past is reached out to these devs to get their approval before we would add them to the showcase.

@tomspilman While I've been working on the home page update, I was going through some of the old iterations of the MonoGame site and saw this https://web.archive.org/web/20130701043920/http://monogame.net/showcase

There used to not only be games in the showcase but short descriptions and also exceprts from the developers on how using MonoGame helped them. I think having quotes directly from the developers themselves like this is really neat and helps show more about why these developers choose MonoGame instead of just being a game in a list.

Going along with this, what would you think of adding in individual showcase pages for each of the games in the showcase. It would basically be a single page dedicated for each game that would have a short description of the game, some screenshots and/or trailer video if available, and links to the store/platform it is available on. This page could also include direct quotes from the developers on why they choose MonoGame or how using MonoGame helped them create the game like the old showcase page mentioned above did.

There's a bit of legwork that would need to go into this in terms of contacting the developers to get the information needed for each page, but it's work I don't mind doing if this is something you'd be interested in for the site.

That was always my issue with having more elaborate listings of games. It is hard to collect all that info and put together the page. Then later maintaining it with relevant links and stuff.

Also you have the issue of smaller less polished titles. While they developers worked hard on them and shipped (always the hardest part) the game itself isn't a great representation of all that MonoGame can do.

All this is why i went with the simpler screenshot + logo showcase page along with marking some games as "featured" and having them appear on the home page banner.

But i'm happy to see improvements to all this.

This is what the community is for 😅. When information is incorrect and needs updating, someone can PR it with the updated information for things like store links and imagery.

The pages themselves are features/showcases so it should be implicitly understood by developers that they are meant to be titles that are showcasing the capabilities of MonoGame. This does put that burden on the developer to decide if they want to submit it or not and risk it being turned down for a showcase spot, but as long as there are clear guidelines and requirements as to what would meet the status for showcase/feature then it should be ok. It's already sorta stated in the showcase posting on the forums

If your post is professional and detailed enough we can promote it to a blog post on the main website, twitter, and youtube channel for further exposure.

As long as developers know there is some criteria to meet to be added to the main site showcase.

  • Kynseed

Hey @tomspilman I have reached out to PixelCount Studios to ask for permission via email. If they respond with their Approval I can forward it over to the MonoGame admin email I'm assuming? Then I can go ahead and get Kynseed added.
